New Kindergarten Application Process

School Year 2017-18

Beginning this fall, CSLA & CSAS are adjusting the timeline for kindergarten applicants wishing to enter during the 2017-2018 school year.  The three required steps are still key to acceptance, but the order in which they occur has changed.  Families must attend the 3 steps at the school they hope to attend. If you would like your child entered in the lottery for both schools, you must attend an Information Meeting and fill out an application at EACH school.  Your child must be 5 years old by Aug. 15, 2017 to be eligible for the lottery.

1. Information Meetings

CSLA - September 13th or September 22nd @ 6 PM (please register using the link on the CSLA website's homepage)

     CSAS - September 15th or September 20th @ 6 PM

At this session, families will be given an overview of the Paideia philosophy, the school curriculum, school citizenship expectations and parent commitments.  All interested families with a child eligible for Kindergarten in 2017-2018 will receive a lottery application at the conclusion of the meeting. The applications should be completed and turned in that evening.

2. Lottery Drawing – Friday, September 30th

Each completed lottery application will have an ID number and each ID number will be drawn in separate lotteries for CSLA and CSAS.  The order in which applications are drawn will be used to form a "wait list" for Kindergarten 2017-18.

Applicants who are drawn #1-75 will continue with the admissions process.  Families will need to complete the school tour and seminar sessions to be considered for admittance.  If your number is drawn in the top 75 slots at BOTH schools, you must complete the tour and seminar process at EACH school if you want to be eligible for admittance at EITHER school. Numbers below #75 in the lottery drawing will not be eligible for a space for Kindergarten, but they will form the lottery admission list for future admission eligibility.

3.  School Tours

    CSLA -  October 18th or October 27th @ 9:30am or 10:30am

    CSAS - October 20th, 21st, 27th, or 28th @ 10AM

4.  Seminar

    CSLA Seminar – November 7th or November 17th @ 6 PM

    CSAS Seminar – November 10th or 15th @ 6 PM

IF YOU DO NOT COMPLETE THE TOUR AND SEMINAR PORTIONS OF THE ADMISSIONS PROCESS, your name will be removed from the list and you will have to reapply.

Successful completion of both Steps #3 and #4 will make the student eligible for admission as space is available (siblings of current students and children of staff are pre-admitted).  Offers of admission for CSLA will be sent by December 15th, 2016.  At that point, two proofs of Hamilton County residency will be required.  Families living outside of Hamilton County (including Georgia) are not allowed to be admitted.
