Hello CSLA!  I peppered you with emails over the weekend, so I gave you a break for a few days :)  However, there is important information in here so please take a moment to read...

THANK YOU to everyone who volunteered and participated at the PTA's Know Show on Saturday!  It was a terrific night and we had a blast!  Couldn't have done it without our volunteers and organizers - you were rock stars!

PTA Silent Auction - Going on now through Sunday at 11:45pm.  If you haven't checked it out yet, get on there and find a goodie to bid on.  And if you don't see anything you want, you can still make a donation and support our PTA which in turn supports your students and their teachers all year long.

School Climate Survey - Please take 5 minutes to take this survey so we can report a great number to the district for parent participation as well as see how we can better our practices at CSLA.  It is also an easy 30 minutes of volunteer time.  The survey closes tomorrow, March 13, so hop to it!  Then add your name on the Sign Up Genius to receive your volunteer time.  Survey responses are anonymous!

NO SCHOOL on Monday, March 16 for teacher in-service.

Conferences - If you have not signed up for these yet, please do so on the website.  Remember these are required per your Magnet School Commitments you signed at registration.

NO STUDENTS on Friday, March 20 during conferences.  If your conference is on Friday and is student-led, your child does need to attend with you during that time.

Volunteer Hour Reports - Reports will be attached to Report Cards for the youngest student in each family with your volunteer hours through March 13.  Please take a moment to look this over and let me know if you see any discrepancies.  Remember hours are due April 30 and you can only count up to 9 of your total from field trips.  Failure to complete your hours will jeopardize your child's seat at CSLA or any other magnet school next year - please don't put us in that situation!!!  Volunteer opportunities are always on the website and updated weekly!

Lost and Found - I'm getting ready to get rid of it - I can't wait until the end of the semester.  If it's not gone by Spring Break, it's going to be donated.  Please come take a look - there is so much stuff.

Student Health - PLEASE keep your child at home if they have a fever, are vomitting or have diarrhea, or if they are hacking and snotty everywhere.  We are working overtime to clean our school through parent volunteers and our custodians, but if your sick child is sitting next to someone at their table and sharing the same air, all the Clorox wipes in the world won't make a difference. We are encouraging and going over handwashing techniques and reinforcing sanitary habits here as best we can, but we need your help!

Yearbooks - Remember the deadline to purchase a yearbook is April 14.  That is also when you need to have completed you FREE custom pages if you choose to take advantage of that.  They are so easy to personalize with photos and memories, and it really makes the book super special.  Order HERE (online orders only) or the link is always on the website under For Parents.

Spring Break - We will be out Friday, April 3 through Sunday, April 12.  Hopefully the sun will be shining by then!

Testing - Our 3rd-8th graders will take their standardized tests beginning April 15.  NO VISITORS will be allowed in the building (including volunteers, lunch visitors, etc) during testing times.  Keep this in mind as you plan your final volunteer hours.  Currently we'll test on April 15, 23, 24, 27, 28, 29 and 30.

Family Floss (formerly Mom Prom) - The PTA is planning a final fun night for our CSLA family on Thursday, May 7 at the Bessie Smith Cultural Center.  It's "Nacho Average Prom" and will be a great time for everyone to boogie and be together.  Details to come later, but you can circle the date on your calendar!

Hang in there everyone, Spring Break is coming!  Let's work hard to get there in good shape!
