Good Afternoon, CSLA!  I've got a lot to say, so grab a snack and read on...

Incoming Kindergarten Families - Please don't forget to submit your online application for the Kindergarten lottery.  This has to be filled out by Jan. 31 so that we can give you your seat.  You'll be drawn first and will have a spot, but you HAVE to be in that lottery.  Find your application at https://www.hcde.org/school_choice

Strawberry Sale - The 7th grade is sponsoring a Strawberry Sale to help defray the rising cost of their Washington, DC trip next year.  All proceeds will be split equally among the 7th grade students toward the cost of their trip.  These are FRESH, BEAUTIFUL Florida strawberries that will be delivered to CSLA in February.  We are selling them for $25/flat which contains (8) 1-lb. containers.  You can buy them to use and freeze or split a flat with a friend or gift them to neighbors!  Order forms coming home tomorrow or send your money with this form.  Checks to CSLA, order online HERE or send correct cash - bring forms and payment to the Office.  Deadline to order is Jan. 31. Strawberry Order Form.pdf

Jazz Band Club - If your 7th or 8th grader is interested in participating, it starts this Thur 1/16 and runs through May on Tue and Thur mornings at 8am.  Former CSLA Band Director Jim Ransom will be leading the group and the cost to participate is only $45 for the semester.  Make checks payable to Jim Ransom and bring payment plus attached registration form to practice Thursday morning.  This is a super cool thing to be part of!  Jazz Band Club 2020.pdf

Art Club - Open to 6th-8th grade students with Ms. Kent on Wednesday afternoons for 8 weeks beginning in February.  What a cool opportunity - see attached application for more information. Art Club Application 2020 .pdf

PTA Board Meeting - This Thursday 1/16 at 5:30 in the Auditorium.  ANYONE is welcome to attend and be a part of what is going on, lend ideas or just check it out!

Volleyball - Home matches tomorrow and Thursday!!  Check out the website under Athletics to see their schedule and support our Lady Eagles!

Car Tags - Remember you need a CSLA-issued hang tag or key chain tag to pick up your student.  This is for their SAFETY.  Please let me know if you need one so we can dismiss your child safely and to the correct people.  New teachers are running dismissal now so please don't assume they know you or ask to be the exception to our rule.

NO SCHOOL - Monday 1/20 in observance of MLK, Jr. Day.

Drama Interest Meeting - The Missoula Children's Theater will direct our play this year!  We will have a production of The Emperor's New Clothes and auditions are open to 2nd-8th grade students.  There is an informational meeting we strongly suggest you (and your student) attend if your student is interested on Tue 1/21 at 5:30 in the Auditorium.  You'll hear about the play, the commitment expectation and productions details.  Permission forms for auditions will be available that evening.  More info here: Drama Production 2020.doc

Strings Fundraiser - You should have seen the flier attached to your Report Card about the Shop with Scrip fundraiser where the Strings Dept. can earn money just from you buying gift cards!  So when you buy an Amazon card to donate to the school, buy it through their program and they get some money!  When you get ready to go to the grocery store or shop for spring clothes from Old Navy, buy the gift card for the amount you know you'll go ahead and spend and you help the Strings.  No extra fees for you but extra money for them!  Learn more here: Strings Boosters Scrips Flyer.pdf

Volunteer Hours Reports - These came home Friday on green paper attached to the Report Card of your youngest child.  If you have a smiley face on it, WOOHOO!  You are all set for this year :)  If not, please remember that hours are due by April 30 - no exceptions.  I beg you not to wait until March to start thinking about this!  Remember that Spring Break is in April (no hours - this place will be a ghost town) and testing will be the last week of April which means NO visitors in the building until noon.  Please make sure you look over your report and if you feel something is missing or incorrect, you need to let me know.  I only enter hours when I see your name on a sign-in sheet (not a sign-UP sheet), a form or an email from you.  Over a 1/3 of families are already finished (AWESOME!), so jump in and plug in and be a part of what's shakin' at CSLA - we need you and appreciate you!!  You are a HUGE part of what makes us who we are!

Parent Seminar - Come experience what your children do every week!  Thur 1/23 at 6pm in the Auditorium.  Come for a great discussion, a time to meet new people and earn some volunteer credit.  Sign up on the website.

Volunteers - Sign up to help at school or pick up the grounds on the weekend.  I also need FOUR volunteers THIS SATURDAY 1/18 at the VEX Robotics Tournament at Volkswagen - no robotics experience necessary.  Sign up for all of this on the website.  If you are having trouble getting hours, I need to hear from you so we can make a plan.  Please don't put the pressure of finding work to do on teachers - that is not their job - but I can't help if I don't know.

Middle School Dance - Rescheduled from 1/24 to 2/7.

And just because I am trying to be a glass half-full kinda person, please label your jackets!!!  The Lost Pile is already getting full and we've only been back a week (insert crying face emoji).

Alrighty, you can't say I didn't tell you :)  Have a great night!
Jennifer
