Hello CSLA Family -  I hope you had a good long weekend!  And I hope you had a moment to reflect on the significance of this holiday and how Dr. King's fight and example continue to make a difference - even in our little school.

Volunteers - If you sign up to come volunteer during the day or at an event, please do.  I beg teachers to give me work so that you'll have something meaningful to do while you are here and aren't just scraping tape off the wall.  But when I don't have people show up, not only has that slot not turned into time someone needs, but teacher's work goes undone or a responsibility is unmet.  If you can't come, just let me know.  But please make every effort to follow through on your sign-up.

Drama Meeting - If you are interested in your student participating in the drama this year, please plan to attend the meeting TOMORROW night, Jan. 21 at 5:30 in the Auditorium. It would also be great to bring along your student!  Remember the auditions are open to any 2nd-8th grade student.  Auditions will be on Monday, Jan. 27 immediately after school and will last until around 8:15.  Practices will be Tue, Wed and Thur nights until 8:15.  There will be a student performance on Friday afternoon and a parent performance on Saturday morning.  The cost to participate is $20 and includes costumes.  We are excited!

Strawberry Sale - We've had a good response so far!  Help the 7th grade class defray the cost of their DC trip next year and scoop up some scrumptious strawberries for yourself in the process.  Order forms came home last week and are in the office as well.  Flats are $25 each and contain eight, 1-pound containers.  Freeze them, gift them, split them with a friend!  Orders are due by Jan. 31 and you can pay online (like as a field trip), send correct cash or make checks out to CSLA.  Send your orders to the Office.

Parent Seminar - THIS Thursday night, Jan. 23 at 6pm.  This is a great way to earn evening volunteer time for parents who work, and I have an unlimited number of seats!  Come have a great time of discussion with us.  Sign up on the website.

MGT Facility Meetings - The next set of meetings hosted by MGT (the company who is proposing all the new facility plans) will be on Tue 1/28 at 6pm @ Tyner and Wed 1/29 at 6pm @ Brown Middle.  If you attend, I will give you an hour volunteer time.  It is important that we complete the survey we were sent and voice comments and suggestions about their plans (including CSLA!).  TO BE CLEAR, they are not closing our program, but do plan to close our building at some point.  Where they will re-locate us is still in the works, so your presence and voice matters!

Coffee with Krystal - Join our principal in her office and have a cup of coffee and chat!  She'd love to hear what's on your mind.  Wednesday 1/29 at 9am.

School Climate Survey - We are being asked again to participate in the statewide school climate survey like we did last year.  Watch for a separate email from me with the survey link.  I am offering 30 minutes of volunteer time PER FAMILY (not per person) if you complete the survey.  You'll have to add your name to the sign-up link in my email in order to receive volunteer credit as I won't be able to verify if you took it or not, so I'd love to do this on the honor system :)  Our school had awesome participation last year, so let's do even better this time!

Strong Family Night - Save the date for Tuesday, Feb. 4th for a great evening of being lifelong learners!!  We are aiming to bring in four professional speakers and let you choose to visit two of them.  It will be a good time to grow your knowledge about different topics, gain strategy and walk away a better parent.  Stay tuned for details, but make plans to come!

The Know Show - While you're circling dates on your calendar, don't miss this one!  The PTA is hosting an ADULTS ONLY event on Saturday, March 7 at the Granfalloon downtown.  It's set to be a fun-filled night of trivia, games, outstanding food and an adult beverage should you choose to partake.  So get your babysitter lined up now (I know a good one) and be ready to astound us with all the useless knowledge you've been squirreling away for a time such as this!

Feb 5 - Half day for students
Feb 17 - NO SCHOOL for Presidents' Day
March 16 - NO STUDENTS - Prof Development for staff
Mar 19-20 - Conferences (NO STUDENTS on March 20)
Apr 30 - Volunteer Hours Due by 4pm

That's it, folks!  See you in the morning (oh, and label those jackets!).
